Collingwood, Melbourne
A PR agency in Collingwood, narratives that earn coverage.
The right story, in the right hands, pitched to the right journalist at the right moment. Public relations grounded in craft and contacts, made from a studio in Collingwood for Melbourne brands with something worth saying.
Public relations
PR that earns its place. Stories told to the people who care.
Trade press, lifestyle, business press, broadcast where it warrants.
Lucky Boy is a PR studio on Rokeby Street, Collingwood. We do PR the way it actually works: a real story with a real angle, pitched to journalists we already have relationships with, with the assets ready to ship on the day of publication.
Most of our PR work pairs with brand, content, and paid social, because PR alone is rarely the strongest play for a small or mid-market brand. The integrated retainers are where the work compounds: the press hit drives a campaign moment, the social channel amplifies it, the paid stack carries it to in-market audiences.
What's included
Six things every PR retainer ships.
Strategy first, materials second, outreach third. The order is what separates earned coverage from a press release going into a void.
- 01Story strategyThe angle, the hook, the moment, the audience. What about this is actually news, who would care, and why now. Strategy is what separates earned coverage from a press release going into a void.
- 02Media listA targeted, curated list of the journalists and outlets that actually cover your space. Not a blanket distribution. Not the same 50 generalist contacts every agency in town pitches.
- 03Press materialsPress release written for journalists, not for marketing. Image kit, B-roll, founder bios, fact sheets, prepared quotes, embargoed where relevant. The pitch lands cleanly because the assets are ready.
- 04Pitch and outreachPersonalised pitches, follow-ups timed to the news cycle, exclusive offers where they earn coverage. Relationships, not blast emails.
- 05Launch coordinationProduct launches, brand reveals, venue openings, milestone moments. Embargo timing, rollout calendar, paid amplification stitched in, social and PR moving in lockstep.
- 06Coverage reportingReal coverage clipped and tracked monthly. Outlet quality, audience reach, share of voice against competitors, branded search and direct traffic lift during campaign windows.

Why Collingwood
A PR studio in the heart of Melbourne's media trade.
Our studio is on Rokeby Street, Collingwood. Five minutes from the Smith Street strip where most of Melbourne lifestyle and trade press is based. That proximity matters for PR more than for almost any other discipline because the trade runs on relationships, and relationships run on lunch.
Most of the editors and journalists we pitch are walking distance from the studio. A coffee with the right person at the right moment is the difference between a placement and a passover. That is not something a Sydney or Brisbane PR agency can offer Melbourne brands.
How we start
From first call to first project, in three steps.
No long forms, no qualifying calls with someone who is not going to do the work. You speak directly with the team who will run your project.
01
A 30-minute scoping call.
You tell us what you are trying to move (a launch, a brand refresh, a revenue target). We tell you whether we are the right agency for it. If we are not, we tell you who is.
02
A fixed-fee proposal.
Inside a week you get a written scope with deliverables, timeline, and a fixed price. Nothing hourly, nothing surprise. If you want to swap something out, we re-scope before anyone signs anything.
03
Kickoff and ship.
Project work usually starts inside two weeks. Retainers start at the top of the following month. Your project lead is in the studio on Rokeby Street and you can call them directly.

Straight from the clients.
A few words from the people we work with.
What began as an initial social media management arrangement has grown and flourished into something far greater.
I don't know whether to be mad that you made me cry for three minutes or to be impressed that you've created something even more special than we imagined. It's absolutely beautiful, a truly special legacy.
I feel like the luckiest girl ever to have found Lucky Boy Agency at a pivotal point in my business. The team have rebranded our company with a fresh, modern, authentically 'us' look.
We recently worked with Karleigh and the team at Lucky Boy Agency on a shoot for Sommerstone Property Group, producing around 40 videos. We couldn't be happier with how it all came together.
Karleigh and Jake have been incredible bringing our brand to life. When we were searching for an agency, Karleigh took the time to understand our business, our goals, and put together a bespoke plan.
An absolute delight to work with Karleigh and the team at Lucky Boy Agency. Our TVC delivered on time and to budget. Nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely recommend.
We couldn't be happier with our experience working with Lucky Boy Agency. From start to finish, the team absolutely nailed it. The branding and website they created for us have been a total game-changer.
We recently used Lucky Boy for some videography and had an amazing experience from start to finish.
Karleigh and Jake are an amazing duo. I'm so happy we found each other. We have been working together for the past couple of years and they have helped the business grow a lot.
If I could give 10 stars I would. The Lucky Boy team are incredible and very professional. They took my website to a whole new level and created a hero video that is a true representation of my brand and is something I will cherish forever.
I've used Lucky Boy for a number of projects. They've always been quick to respond, they're easy going, and they exceed expectations. Few agencies tick all three boxes. I highly recommend them for video, social media, or content work.
They did a fantastic job helping us produce a short promo video for use on our website. The whole process was seamless and stress free for us.
Good to know
PR, the questions buyers actually ask.
What kind of coverage do you typically pitch?
We pitch where the story actually fits. Trade press for B2B clients (industry journals, sector newsletters, association publications). Lifestyle press for hospitality and consumer brands (Broadsheet, Concrete Playground, Time Out, Gourmet Traveller, Vogue Living). Business press for finance, professional services, and corporate (AFR, BRW, Smart Company, Capital Brief). Broadcast and podcasts where the story warrants it. The thing we don't do is blast the same generalist pitch list every time. Outlets are picked for each campaign.
Can you guarantee coverage?
No agency that respects the press can guarantee coverage. What we can guarantee: the pitch, the angle, the relationships, the assets ready to ship, the timing aligned with the news cycle. Coverage depends on the strength of the story and what's happening in the news that week. We work hard on the parts we can control, and we report honestly on what landed.
How much does a Melbourne PR agency cost?
PR retainers in Melbourne typically run $4,000 to $15,000 per month, depending on the volume of pitching, the outlet tier, and the campaign rhythm. We run smaller project-based PR for single launches at $5,000 to $15,000 per campaign, and larger integrated retainers (PR + social + paid) on top of the standalone PR fee. We scope every engagement against fixed deliverables (number of pitches, target outlets, campaign moments) so you know what you are buying.
Do you do launch campaigns and brand reveals?
Yes. Product launches, venue openings, brand reveals, milestone moments. We coordinate the assets, the pitch list, the embargo timing, and the rollout calendar so the moment lands as a single story rather than dribbling out across the week. Most of our launch campaigns pair PR with paid social and influencer seeding so the earned coverage gets amplified rather than disappearing into a Friday news cycle.
How do you measure PR work?
Four things. Coverage volume (number of placements). Outlet quality (where the placement ran, the readership, the brand authority of the publication). Share of voice (your coverage volume against named competitors). And where appropriate, lift in branded search, direct traffic, and social mentions during the campaign window. Reporting is monthly with the actual coverage clipped, not vanity metrics like "potential reach" or AVE.
Do you work alongside in-house comms teams?
Yes. Several of our PR clients have an in-house comms function and use us for production capacity, specific campaigns, or specialist outlet relationships. We plug in as an extension of the team, not a replacement. The relationship works best when the in-house team owns the brand voice and we own the media relationships.
Do you do crisis comms?
Yes, but only for existing clients. Crisis comms requires a deep understanding of the brand, the stakeholders, and the media relationships before the crisis hits. We don't take cold crisis briefs because the strategy needs context we don't have time to acquire in a real incident. If you are an existing retainer client, crisis support is built in.
How long until we see coverage?
First placements typically land 2 to 6 weeks into a campaign, depending on the story and the news cycle. Trade press tends to land faster (4-week editorial calendars). Consumer and lifestyle press takes longer (3 to 6 weeks for print, 1 to 3 weeks for digital). Broadcast and podcasts run on their own schedules. We track every pitch and follow-up, so if a story isn't landing we can pivot the angle inside the engagement, not after it.
